UWPipeline-d To Fail
I read an interesting article in the Badger Herald about how UWPipeline tried to sabotage exchange hut's website buy making fake purchases on over 80 tickets that were listed on exchange hut's website. Then to top that off, they sent spam mail to all the ticket listers telling them to go to UWPipeline's website. Wow, I've read a little bit about starting up an online business, and customer service is a huge deal. Now to blatantly fake buyout tickets, which by the way charged each ticket seller's credit card automatically, and then sending them an e-mail saying that you should come to my website, hmmmm.
What made me chuckle was that about 2 weeks ago, UWPipeline sent me a spam mail, not to say that they jipped me out of the legitimate listing that I had made, but to feed me with an advertisement. BOOO to spam mail! BOOO to UWPipeline! Then I went to their website to check it out, and it's the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen. They use cheesy flash animation to show scenes from around Madison, most of their layout is covered with horrendous looking ads wanted images, and is just plain ugly! So take my advice please and boycott this fraudulent website, and do your business at a respectable place, such as craigslist.org or exchangehut.com
It seems like everyone is trying to make a classifieds ads website to list stuff. I wanted to write an article listing each of the decent classifieds sites, and rank them for their quality. Here is a quick run down for the Madison area
#1 - craigslist.org
Craigslist.org has a massive amount of content, everything is one click away from the home page, it's grassroots and non-profitable, and it covers the whole surrounding area of Wisconsin. I have used it successfully to buy and sell items and it works like a charm. Best of all, its FREE!
#2 - exchangehut.com
exchangehut.com covers the UW-Madison campus, and have recently re-done their website to cover other campus's as well. Their book selection is slightly lacking, but if your looking to sell UW football, basketball, or hockey tickets, this is your place.
#3 BadgerHearld and #4 - Daily Cardinal
#3 and #4 Badger Herald and Daily Cardinal - Both of these websites offer classifieds ads, most of them are filled with apartment or sublet listings, but none the less, their sites generate a heavy amount of traffic from their online readers. It is a little expensive, but probably worth your while if your trying to tune into the college crowd.
#5 - College Classifieds
#5 College Classifieds. This website is brand spanking new. I really don't like the layout, or the massive advertising that they've been doing on all over campus. To make a good classifieds ads, you need content, and this site has none.
#1000 UW Pipeline - I just hate this site with a passion because my e-mail inbox has enough spam mail, and then to fill it up with even more shit, with you e-mailing me about your free calendar's your giving away, I don't care. This site has a horrible layout, no listings at all, and the co-founder is a fraudulent fluzey, so stay away please!

Thats right, Free Football Tickets! ExchangeHut was born out of frustration over not getting student football tickets when we were freshmen back in 2004. Because of the email glitch, many of you did not receive fair warning about when tickets went on sale and missed out on getting tickets. To try to make this situation a little better we are giving away our own personal sets of Badger Football Tickets to help out our fellow students in their time of need. We know that this will not solve the entire problem, but we believe it is a step in the right direction. Students will be eligible to win our sets of tickets free if they did not get tickets and meet the following criteria: They are ExchangeHut members, members of our Facebook group and post either a message on our message board or an item in our classifieds or sublets.

hi tom, found you while searching for classified news. great comments tho i have to address your comments regarding CL and CC - Cl WAS grassroots 7 years ago - today it is about a $15-20m a year operation according to jupiter. hell, craig was the guest on the daily show a week or so back - that clearly puts his brand on a different level. I would say that college classifieds is truly grassroots - i worked with it's parent Universal Advertising for years as a publisher of free weekly and know derrick somewhat. as i understand it what he is doing to promote on campus is a great example of scrappy grassroots marketing. at the very least i would follow what he is doing. thanks, jonathan godekalb.com
