Birth Of The Cool is a soft album that is made up of a nonet. Every track is very delicate with specified melodies played by every member of the band, and then switching to solo improvised work. The album isn't very aggressive, even though Miles has a tendency to play very fast at times. The gentle swing of the beat on most every song lays the foundation for complex harmonization and innovative expression.
