Tom Wilson Madison Web Design

I've been interested in intense Web Design for around a year now. I first started out in front page, and create some horrible web pages with ugly code. I took a the Web Design I class through the doIT Student Technical Training center here on campus. I learned the basics of html and CSS code, and how to write code that would make web sites look sleek and still be accessible even to a blind person.

I then got a job at the Department of Pharmacology doing web design there. They used frontpage, so I used my new dreamweaver skills to revamp their web site and give it a fresh new look. I used a simple table layout for the template, and used CSS to give the page color and style.

The way I learn how to do things, is by actually doing them, so after creating a couple new web sites, I started to learn new tricks to make things faster and more sleek. Now, I am working on making this site up to date with the standards of the new Web 2.0. I am using a layout that is generated entirely by div tags controlled by CSS, allowing for this site to render quicker, and asynchronous. Most of the content will be held within databases so it will be easy for me to edit, and update content within an administration panel that is hosted on this website.

Pretty neat eh?
